Symptoms of Wrong Fuel:

  • Car refuses to start after refuelling

  • Loss of engine power after refuelling

  • Engine runs poorly after refuelling

  • Car won’t start when engine has cooled

  • White smoke in exhaust after filling up

  • Dashboard warning light after refuelling

What to look out for.

Put the Wrong Fuel In and
Driven It?

If you accidentally fill up with the wrong fuel and drive a short distance, it may still be salvageable, though damage could occur. However, if you add AdBlue to your fuel tank, do not start the engine at all—AdBlue is not a fuel (it’s a urea-based solution designed to reduce emissions in diesel engines). Starting the engine with AdBlue in the fuel system can cause severe and costly damage. In either case, it’s vital to have the incorrect substance fully removed. If you’re unsure, call our hotline for expert advice.

Petrol In Diesel Tank

Diesel engines rely on the lubrication provided by diesel fuel. Petrol, however, washes away this lubrication, leaving engine parts exposed to rapid wear and tear, which can result in significant damage.

Diesel in Petrol Tank

Diesel doesn’t burn like petrol and can clog delicate fuel system components. It can also seep into the engine oil, causing overfilling and potentially leading to major engine failure. Do not start the car and get professional help as soon as possible.

AdBlue in Fuel Tank

AdBlue is not a fuel and must never go into your tank. If it does, don’t start the car—driving can cause severe damage to the engine. Park safely, turn off the engine, and contact us for immediate assistance.
